You can tell a lot about a person from looking at their hands. After all, our hands are one of our first sensual explorers of our surroundings. Rough, callused hands usually imply manual labor, or an intensive hobby. An indentation close to the finger nail on the middle or ring finger generally indicates a student, or a writer. Dirt under the fingernails gives away a green thumb. And as my mom always says, hands are the first thing to give away a person' s age.
This month's self portrait tuesday challenge is to show our flaws. What does this scar say about me?
People often remark that my scar looks like a cigarette burn. Thankfully, it is not. The real story is far more banal -- I had a wart that wouldn't go away, and after an intensive burst of laser treatment, the viral mass faded and I was left with this 1 euro cent size scar on my right thumb. It is often the first thing a person sees when I shake their hand, its shiny roundness pointed in their face.
Is this a real flaw?
